This coverage pays for injuries to your employees. Lack of this coverage leaves you and your customer open to judgments for injuries suffered by employees. Most states require workers comp, but this coverage is not required in the state of Texas. It is highly recommended to insure you, the employer, and by extension your customer from legal action. Premium is based on payroll and your work classification. The usual practice (for contractors) is to pay on a monthly or quarterly reporting basis. At the end of the insurance year, the company will do an audit to determine the final yearly cost that will include all wages paid to employees and uninsured subs.
